What do you need to consider ?

Picture

Dog grooming is physically demanding work and not suited to everyone.

It is not recommended as a career if you suffer any skeletal/muscular issues or are prone to repetitive strain injuries. Asthma may also present some problems.

You may love dogs but bear in mind, loving them doesn’t always mean you can work with them. You need to be able to switch from “owner mode” to “professional mode”. If you are not able to leave aside excessive hugs and kisses while you are working on the dog, then the dog does not see you as a pack leader and misbehaves. In a dogs mind there must be a pack leader and if that is not you, the groomer, then the dog will assume the roll.

Dog Grooming is not a career that can be learnt in a class room situation or via correspondence format. It is a hands-on trade that needs to be learnt by practical application. That is why your five weeks with us is so intensive and hard work because we want you to experience as much of salon life as possible

* Our course is a full time one. It normally runs Tuesday to Friday for 5 week minimum, minimum of 20 days
* Due to the nature of the "hands-on" syllabus, within a busy
grooming salon, no weekend or evening courses are available
* Course Cost €4,300 for the Basic 5 Weeks
* We recommend doing a Taster Day prior to booking a full course.
This will cost €100 but is deducted off any course subsequently booked.
*Course is on one-to-one basis
so the number of bookings available each year is limited. click here for full course details
